Colorado: The Roads Toll For Thee

Under a new bill proposed by Gov. Bill Owens, drivers may see tolls on road they now drive for free.

"Owens repeatedly has assured Coloradans that under his 20-year transportation plan, toll booths won't be erected on existing roads, only on the new roads. But a look at the fine print of Owens' plan reveals a loophole big enough to drive an SUV through, according to critics of the plan. If the bill becomes law, all the state needs to do is to add a road improvement, such as curbs, lights or landscaping to an existing road, and a toll booth can be erected, according to the bill's language."
