A water shortage in Frederick, Md. has halted new development as city officials search for alternate water sources.

"To ease the water crisis that has halted development in Frederick for 10 months, city officials are looking at nearly a dozen potential wells and a quarry that could yield more than a million gallons of water a day.If they succeed in tapping those sources soon, a moratorium on new development that has been in place for a year could be lifted.
