Chuches in Stapleton, Colorado are resisting new "walkable" guidelines, and excluding themselves from a new community.
A new redevelopment in Stapleton, Colorado is still in its earliest phases, but so far, according to a Rocky Mountain News editorial, the plan has not been receptive to churches' requests to "buy the land they believe they need." However, the issue has been whether or not to build churches in the recent suburban-style surrounded by acres of parking. Like many businesses, a few churches balk at the indignity of having to share parking with other uses. The planners in Stapleton suggested the possibilty of shared-use parking that will better integrate them into the community to the benefit of both the churches and the community.
