Advocates Demand Affordable Housing In San Diego

Housing advocates in San Diego, CA, are calling for more housing that working people can afford.

Led by the San Diego League of Women Voters, the advocates are calling for a citywide housing program that would force developers to set aside a percentage of new units for families earning less than $40,000 a year. Critics of the plan, such as Councilman George Stevens, say that an inclusionary housing plan would not work in communities where there is no vacant land to develop and would not alleviate skyrocketing rents.
