"The Concord lands on the south side of Vancouver's downtown peninsula, along with Marathon land on the north side of the peninsula, have been the object of intense interest at Vancouver city hall, where planners have seen these two areas as places to express a new urban vision for the city and as relief valves for housing demand in the city. Between the two areas, along with redevelopment in the Downtown South area next to Yaletown, the city's downtown residential population is slowing doubling from the 40,000 it was 10 years ago to the 80,000 it's expected to be 10 years from now."
