Influenced by New Urbanism, a development in Corona del Mar, CA, incorporates elevated walkways limited to pedestrians and commands high prices.
"The design reflects both a West Coast adaptation of some of the tenets of the New Urbanism and the developer's bet on a distinctive design that would carry price tags high enough to justify development of a difficult site. The setting of the project is Corona del Mar, an affluent neighborhood of Newport Beach, about 45 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Sitting directly on the coastline, Corona del Mar is made up largely of outwardly unremarkable cottages that nevertheless command high prices. Part of the neighborhood's appeal is a location within walking distance of the ocean as well as shopping and restaurants, in a region where coastal living is both costly and rare."
