The Urban Land Institute has announced the five finalists for its annual Urban Open Space Award, which recognizes 'an outstanding example of a public destination that has enriched and revitalized its surrounding community.'
Amanda Gruen looks at the five finalists for the ULI's annual Urban Open Space Award, which include: Brooklyn Bridge Park (New York), Cumberland Park (Nashville), The Village on False Creek (Vancouver), The Yards Park (Wasington D.C.), and Wilmington Waterfront Park (Los Angeles).
"To qualify for the competition, projects must have been open to the public for a minimum of one year and a maximum of fifteen years," explains Gruen. "The open spaces must also be situated predominately outside, offer ample and diverse seating, sun and shade, and plantings, among other specific requirements."
