Students from the University of Southern California set out to "brand historic downtown Los Angeles."
"A team of 50 USC students has set out to discover the answer as part of a project that could contribute to Broadway's return as a high profile theater district. It is the latest in a string of efforts to re-energize the thoroughfare, which once held about a dozen grand movie palaces. The project, "Branding Historic Downtown Los Angeles," is the brainchild of Gregory Thomas, an adjunct professor of fine arts at USC, and president of design firm Gregory Thomas Associates. Thomas has promoted tourism for the governments of Australia, New Zealand and Austria, and he believes that Broadway is a real-world laboratory for USC students to develop their skills in promoting tourism through branding and marketing."
