Miami Beach has found a new source of sand to replenish the city's northern shoreline.

"The $25 million, 450-mile haul would be one of the most imaginative ways a local government has sought to import sand, beach erosion specialists say... The city wants to ship 1 ½ million tons of sand clogging the Appalachicola River in Northwest Florida to Miami Beach to build up North Beach's shores, long considered an erosion hot spot."
