The poet Langston Hughes, a central figure in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s, famously writes: "What happens to a dream deferred?" He concludes: "Maybe it just hangs/like a heavy load. // Or does it explode?" In regards to Harlem real estate, explodes is right...After decades in which that stretch of northern Manhattan... was synonymous for many Americas with ghetto and urban blight, Harlem now also evokes almost mythical visions of real estate opportunity, heralded as "the last frontier of Manhattan real estate...To get a ground-level view of the Harlem real estate market, Reis's Sam Truitt speaks with Jeffrey Brooker, president of Webb & Brooker, Inc., a Harlem-based, full-service real estate company.
