The Detroit suburb of Canton Township has grown faster than utilities can keep up. Is this an ominous trend?

"In nine years in the business, these are the worst delays I've ever seen," said Lori Davidson, an Ivanhoe Huntley sales associate. "We didn't get electricity out here for nearly a year, and some of the models had to be built with generators," It took weeks to get phone service to the model home, which served as an office for the builders. "We had to run back and forth between the trailer to get faxes and phone calls," Davidson said."
