More than 53 million American adults went a-gambling in 2000, making more than 308 million casino visits, or about 5.8 trips per person. With the billions of dollars being poured into tribal gaming operations, a wide vista of outside development opportunities would appear to be in the offing...To find out what promise these enterprises hold for the real estate industry, Reis's Sam Truitt speaks with Michael Cahill, president of Hospitality Real Estate Counsel, a founder of the Microtel Inn hotel chain, a member of the board of directors of Hudson Hotels and co-chairman of the Lodging Industry Investment Council.
