A proposal to control light pollution in Arizona was rejected by the a state House committee.

"The Senate passed a less restrictive proposal that would require shielding of streetlights. That bill now goes to the House.The House bill would have required the state and cities and towns of 50,000 people or more to shield outdoor lighting so it is directed toward the ground. The rules would apply to new or replacement lighting."
