Technology company Ericsson has published its 2013 list of the world's cities with the best information and communications technology (ICT) networks, but there are also good things happening in the cities with the least developed networks.
"Technology company Ericsson has published the 2013 edition of its 'Networked Society City Index' report, which ranks 31 cities around the world in terms of their ICT maturity," writes Rich Heap.
Typically, the discussion around "smart cities" tends to ignore the crucial fact that many cities worldwide aren't equipped with mature ICT networks.
But, based on Ericsson's list of examples of "smart" technology projects in all 31 cities in the report, Heap offers "10 [tech] projects happening in the 10 least 'smart' cities at the bottom of Ericsson's table." These include tech projects in cities like Dhaka, Lagos, and more.
