As Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio prepares to take office at the beginning of the new year, speculation is growing as to who will succeed Mayor Bloomberg's popular commissioners. The Real Deal floats several candidates to become NYC's next chief planner.
Three current members of New York City's Planning Commission - Anna Hayes Levin, Michelle de la Uz and Kenneth Knuckles - have been floated as the most likely replacements for Amanda Burden, the widely respected Chair of the Commission and Director of the Department of City Planning, reports C. J. Hughes.
“Amanda Burden herself was a commissioner before she became the chair,” said one former Bloomberg administration official. “The thought is that you need somebody who knows the ropes.”
"Of the three contenders, sources say, the front-runner is Levin, who was appointed to the commission in 2009 not by Bloomberg but by Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, who will be inaugurated as the city’s comptroller in January," writes Hughes. He goes on to explore some of the other possible contenders.
