"Wayne County officials plan to dedicate up to $100 million from a tourism tax to redevelop distressed urban areas, including downtown, Mexicantown and land near University of Detroit-Mercy... In addition to tearing down abandoned buildings, the Urban Partner Program would assist in the development of homes, stores, restaurants and businesses."
