Pace, the suburban Chicago transit agency, wants suburbanites to dump their cars and take the bus instead.

Pace officials already have some ideas to cast buses as more attractive transit options, including suburb-to-suburb routes, dedicated bus lanes and expanded dial-a-ride service. But they also admit that suburban bus service has thus far been a failure, and plan to ask Chicago area residents for their input.
