MA Developing 'Toolbox' To Manage Growth

Massachusetts is developing a "toolbox" to help planners manage growth including software that allows towns to visualize their future based on new zoning.

"Environmental secretary Robert Durand said the "toolbox" he will announce today at events in Westborough and Waltham includes a software program that allows towns to see what their future would look like if they create new zoning districts or preserve more open space. Local planners can put in such variables and calculate how many teachers, new roads or millions of gallons of water they will need in 10 or 20 years."
