“Washington is now one of the top cities for biking in the United States, according to the League of American Bicyclists, which says the population of commuting bikers in D.C. jumped 82 percent between 2005 and 2011,” writes Adrienne LaFrance in a recent article.
But instead of focusing on the infrastructure improvements that enabled the growth of cycling in D.C., LaFrance instead focuses on the social and organizational components behind that success, such as BicycleSPACE, the Capital Bikeshare program, DC Bike Party, the Bike House co-op, and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association.
