Southern California takes a lot of heat for sucking up the water from Northern California and the Colorado River, but the Orange County Water District, at least, is doing its part.
“Meantime, the Orange County Water District has a $142 million expansion project underway at the Fountain Valley reuse facility. By the end of 2015, OCWD officials say the plant will be producing 100 million gallons of potable water a day - at half the cost of imported water,” reports Ed Joyce.
The Orange County Water District water got its start at a Fountain Valley facility, which has been supplying drinking water to about 2.4 million Orange County residents since 2008. Orange County succeeded in overcoming the “yuck factor” that led to the failure of an earlier program in San Diego.
