A controversial bill that would exempt developments of regional impact (DRI) from state review in 14 counties “appears dead for the 2014 legislative session,” according to a report by Bruce Ritchie.

SB 372 by Sen. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, “said he could be back with similar legislation next year. He said another year would provide time to work on issues related to coordination among local governments and state agencies on developments of regional impact.”

Galvano would like to apply what he describes as a more meaningful threshold for the DRI process. Sierra Club would like the process left alone. The DRI process was last adjusted by the state in 2011.

Included in Ritchie's coverage of the Florida Legislature are details of the current status of several other development-related bills.
