Guardian Cities has compiled a list (with pictures!) of the "smartest" urban crowdfunding projects from around the world.
A new list, by Chris Michael and Elena Goodinson, highlights the best examples of the use of crowdfunding to deliver projects for and by the community. The list also mentions a few of the lesser known crowdfunding vehicles that facilitated the process.
A few examples:
- "Memphis Bioworks is in the process of using the crowdfunding website IOBY (In Our Back Yard) to raise money for Memphis Civic Solar, a project that aims to install 1.5 megawatts of solar energy capability across 30 different municipal buildings across the city."
- "In Bristol, artist Luke Jerram proposed a giant temporary public waterslide for city centre. Called the Park and Slide, it has raised funds through the civic crowdfunding website Spacehive."
