The APA has announced the election of the next president of the national organization—Carol Rhea, FAICP.
"Urban planning consultant Carol Rhea, FAICP, is the new President-Elect of the American Planning Association (APA)," according to a press release yesterday from the APA. Rhea will remain president elect for a year before assuming the presidency for a two-year term in April 2015.
"Rhea said that during her term in office she will focus on several critical issues focused around the theme of inspiring the organization and its members to dream more, learn more, become more and do more."
Rhea is a founding member, and current managing partner, of Orion Planning Group, which has offices in Alabama, Mississippi, Colorado, and Wyoming. As the former planning director of Monroe, North Carolina, Rhea "developed the city's first land development plan, secured adoption of downtown design guidelines and a rental license program, and streamlined the city's permitting program."
Rhea will follow William Anderson, FAICP, the former of director of planning of San Diego and a partner with Economics Research Associates (now AECOM).
