Stapleton International Airport was replaced by Denver International Airport in 1995. Today 4,700 acres near downtown Denver are now open to development. Forward-thinking city officials and developers are working on a smart growth project which will mix residential, retail, and office spaces in a pedestrian-friendly environment.
