More Babies Than Immigrants Fuel County's Growth

According to the Census Bureau, San Diego County's population growth was fueled largely by new babies. Census figures suggest that number of people moving out is higher than the number of people moving in but some experts are skeptical.

Latest populations estimates from the Census Bureau show that between 2000 and 2001, San Diego's population growth was fueled largely by people having babies. And, contrary, to state estimates, more people left the county for other parts of the country than moved into the region. One of the beneficiaries of all those departures was Riverside County, where affordable housing prices lure workers from Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
