Greenwich Beach Fees Deter Non-Residents

After being forced by the State Supreme Court to allow non-residents into its beaches, Greenwich, CT, has constructed a fee system that some contend is still illegal.

"Town park officials observed 69 vehicles turn away from the entrances to Greenwich Point and Byram parks, after the occupants were told of the policy. Rich Haight, a gatekeeper at Byram Park, said many nonresidents questioned the new fees and refused to pay. "You just sit back and say, 'Have a nice day."
