Developer Forest City is getting a jump on the ballot box zoning trend in San Francisco. According to reports, the developer will go to the voters to ask for increased height for a large development at Pier 70 in the neighborhood known as Dogpatch.
Eric Young reports on the latest development in the ongoing San Francisco height-limit saga: the "Union Iron Works Historic District Housing, Waterfront Parks, Jobs and Preservation Initiative."
"The new proposal, the 'Union Iron Works Historic District Housing, Waterfront Parks, Jobs and Preservation Initiative,' would clear the way for Forest City’s development of at least 1,000 new units of housing, as much as 1.8 million square feet of commercial space and 400,000 square feet of retail, cultural and manufacturing uses to rise up to nine stories in height on the Pier 70 site, along with nine acres of new parks."
In an earlier report, John Wildermuth provides more details about the proposed $242 million project and its site.
