From rancho barns to Howard Hughes's former aircraft factory, nine projects reflect the best in historic preservation in Greater Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Conservancy has announced the recipients of its 33rd annual Preservation Awards, honoring outstanding achievement in historic preservation throughout Los Angeles County.
Selected by an independent jury of leading experts in architecture, historic preservation, and community development, the recipients reflect a wide range of efforts to preserve Greater Los Angeles' architectural heritage.
The top honor, the President's Award, goes to Wilshire Boulevard Temple for the monumental restoration and rehabilitation of its 1929 home, the centerpiece of a plan to expand services to the surrounding community.
The eight project award recipients include restored barns and a new interpretive center at Rancho Los Alamitos; the former Hughes Aircraft Company, now a campus for creative agencies and digital media innovators; and the former Canoga Park Library, a mid-century modern gem that now houses early childhood development services for more than 1,000 children and families a month.
The Conservancy will present the awards at its 33rd Annual Preservation Awards Luncheon on Thursday, July 31.
