Pete Saunders applies his experience as a planner in the private, public, and non-profit sectors (not to mention in suburban and urban environs) to provide insight into the Windy City, which he calls the "the most American of American cities." On that claim, Saunders explains: "Being in the middle of the country, and being the financial and cultural capital of the vast American hinterland, has a lot to do with that."
Saunders goes on to address a series of questions about Chicago, such as "What does your city sound like?" and "What is the best place for a conversation?" Each of his answers come with the eye of a planner as well as an engaged, optimistic citizen.
