The controversial Bay Delta Conservation Plan, in the works for seven years, has been placed on hold again. According to officials with the state Department of Resources, the delay comes in response to comments on the project's draft EIR.
"Plans for two huge water diversion tunnels in the Delta are being delayed, state officials announced Wednesday, because the plans need more work," reports Matt Weiser.
Officials with the California Department of Water Resources said parts of the plan need additional work, but they wouldn't divulge exactly which parts. They expect a revised version of the environmental impact report to be available in "early 2015."
The plan is most famous (or infamous) for proposing " a massive pair of tunnels, 40 feet in diameter and 30 miles long, that would divert a portion of the Sacramento River’s flow at three intake…"
