The city of Alexandria, Virginia will this month begin an update of its Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan while also developing Complete Streets Design Guidelines.
"The update of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan will include an evaluation of existing conditions, constraints and needs, as well as a review of existing policies, goals and objectives," according to a press release shared via the Wash Cycle advocacy blog. More specifically, the "Plan will identify short and long-term projects to make walking and biking safer in Alexandria," and "Complete Street Design Guidelines are being developed to ensure that Alexandria’s streets are serving the needs of all users."
Public meetings will begin on September 30, and planners are asking for citizen participation with an interactive crowdsourcing map.
