State Funding Sends Divvy Bikeshare to the Suburbs

Divvy—Chicago's popular bikeshare system—is expanding to farther flung areas of the metropolitan area, thanks to state funding approved by the governor.

"Oak Park and Evanston will be getting some Divvy bike rental stations thanks to a $3 million state grant," reports John Byrne.

Governor Pat Quinn approved the grant after rejecting similar funding earlier this year. The grant will fund expansions of the Divvy system into the West Side and far North Side of Chicago, with 50 new docking stations, in addition to the aforementioned suburban expansion. Oak Park will gain 12 docking stations and Evanston will gain eight.
