New Urbanist Town Center For Southlake, TX

A seemingly innocuous proposal for residential uses in a mixed use town center has become an all out battle against "density" in this affluent Metroplex suburb. " Opponents say town houses would break from Southlake's land-use plan, which calls for large homes on big lots to reduce traffic and prevent school crowding. They are also concerned about using prime commercial land for housing, which would produce less tax revenue, and about setting a precedent that other projects might follow."
