Shay relays information shared by Silver Spring Councilmember Hans Riemer, who claims that "the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority indicated to him that a park is being planned near the center."
"They actually agree it was time to re-vision the whole transit center property," Riemer is quoted in the story, adding, "[they] wanted to do it under the leadership of the county planning department and the community planning process."
Riemer's comments came during a public workshop on potential improvements for the area near the long-delayed Transit Center. The park idea, when first proposed back in February, sparked commentary by Dan Reed about the area's lack of an urban edge necessary for the success of a park.
