Kevin James Shay reports that plans are proceeding for a new park near the Silver Spring Transit Center. Shay relays information shared by Silver Spring Councilmember Hans Riemer, who claims that "the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority indicated to him that a park is being planned near the center."

"They actually agree it was time to re-vision the whole transit center property," Riemer is quoted in the story, adding, "[they] wanted to do it under the leadership of the county planning department and the community planning process."

Riemer's comments came during a public workshop on potential improvements for the area near the long-delayed Transit Center. The park idea, when first proposed back in February, sparked commentary by Dan Reed about the area's lack of an urban edge necessary for the success of a park.
