Oakland city officials are considering a streetcar between two of the city's transit and entertainment hubs in the hopes of solidifying the stream of investment coming into the city.

The city of Oakland is considering a streetcar route on Broadway between the MacArthur BART Station and Jack London Square, according to Chip Johnson.
The idea is an expensive one: "The price tag for the streetcar project is estimated at $202 million, nearly 10 times the $22 million required to expand the city’s downtown shuttle program."
The city recently held two public meetings to consider the idea. The idea is expected to appear before the City Council early next year.
