Cincinnati currently stands at 45th in the nation in bike commuting share. But the city is bike commute share is leading the nation in its rate of adoption.
Sarah Goodyear follows up on the quick success of the Cincinnati Red Bike bikeshare system by describe the city's leadership in bike adoption: "Biking in Cincinnati is not…just a question of jumping on the trendy bike-share bandwagon. The city is one of the nation’s leaders when it comes to growth in the number of bicycle commuters."
"According to figures from the American Community Survey," Goodyear adds, "Cincinnati saw a 146 percent increase in bike commuting between 2000 and 2013, one of the fastest rates of growth in the United States. That doesn’t even count the kind of short in-town trips that bike-share fosters."
Goodyear goes on to cite examples of the city's leadership in bike planning, including the city's 2010 Bicycle Transportation Plan.
