The City of New Rochelle has reached a compromise with billboard companies after being sued for banning them entirely within city limits.
"The New York State Legislature is considering a bill to allow up to six billboards along Interstate 95 in New Rochelle, that will replace 15 billboards being taken down in the core of the city. The legislation helps implement a legal settlement between the city and billboard companies. The companies sued the city in early 1997 after New Rochelle enacted a law phasing out all billboards within its borders."
