Court orders temporary halt to New Urbanism-influenced development in Kansas City, North, due to environmental concerns.
"Lake officials alleged that silt and storm water management plans for Zona Rosa were inadequate and would allow pollution to flow into Rush Creek, which feeds the lake...The suit comes less than a month after ground was broken for the 94-acre development, billed as the Country Club Plaza of the Northland. Its 1-million-square-foot New Urbanism design promises retail, restaurant, office, hotel and residential development in a pedestrian-friendly setting. The first phase is slated to open in fall 2003."
