The developers, politicians, architects and planners who shaped Tacoma's transformation admit more needs to be done, particularly to bolster downtown's struggling stores.Yet many see the July 6 opening of the Museum of Glass: International Center for Contemporary Art as a critical milestone in Tacoma's emerging future. Additional cultural development and continued growth of a full-time downtown population could create the critical mass needed to create a downtown unlike any in Tacoma's history, some say."
