"'The problem with sprawl is that we tend to build these nice manicured lawns, but no sidewalks,' said Lois Hall, program coordinator for the Ohio Department of Health cancer program. 'It's that whole environment that's conducive to unhealthy behavior and unhealthy risks.' It has public-health researchers, environmentalists and planners talking, especially in central Ohio, where suburbs have experienced tremendous growth during the past decade."
