The plan outlines a "new vision for Chicago’s core, one which would add 40 million square feet of office space and 60,000 new residents downtown by the year 2020, along with a huge public transit improvements and 84 acres of park space... The plan sets a goal of making Chicago 'the greenest city in the United States.' Among steps proposed to fulfill that goal are new parks at Wolf Point on the Near West Side and on the site of an existing postal facility at Clark Street and Grand Avenue. Also proposed is construction of two off-shore islands in the lake near Monroe Harbor that were envisioned in the legendary Burnham Plan."
