A city councilmember in Sausalito in the North San Francisco Bay Area is ready to limit the number of tourists riding rental bikes into her city from across the Golden Gate Bridge.
"One of the Bay Area's top tourist destinations is hoping to detour some tourists away from their city, at least the ones riding bikes," reports Cornell Barnard. More specially, "Sausalito is looking to regulate the number of rental bikes coming into town."
Sausalito City Councilmember Linda Pfeifer is quoted in the article saying as many as 1,000 people are riding rental bikes into her city from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. Councilmember Pfeifer claims the number of bikes on the city's rodes pose a safety problem.
Understandably, bike advocates and business owners in Sausalito are nonplussed with the idea of restricting the number of rental bikes coming into the city.
