"If the world is to tackle the problem of climate change in earnest, clean coal has to become more than just an amusing oxymoron...poor countries such as China, India and South Africa have large reserves that are almost certain to be used to fuel economic growth. So it makes sense to consider possible technical fixes to the problem. These will never be the whole answer; unless the correct incentives are applied, burning coal without such fixes is likely to remain cheaper than burning it with them."
