The street that benefitted by one of the most high-profile and successful freeway removals in the country is due for another makeover.
Nuala Sawyer provides an update on the ongoing planning effort for the Octavia Boulevard Enhancement project, which will have a public meeting this week in San Francisco.
According to Sawyer, "12 projects have been slated for improvement along Octavia Boulevard and its surrounding blocks, spreading north to Grove and west to Buchanan…" The projects are split into two categories: pedestrian safety improvements (e.g., tree plantings, curb extensions, and reconfigured bus shelters) and an overhaul of the intersection of Octavia Boulevard and Market Street, which is a frontrunner for one of the least safe intersections for bikers in San Francisco, according to an interactive map by Vision Zero.
