Philadelphia media was on hand to cover the launch of the Indego bikeshare system on April 23, 2015.
Philadelphia's bikeshare system launched this week, with 600 bikes available and 1,000 members already signed up for the service.
Jim Saksa reported on the good spirits and celebratory mood that greeted the launch of the Indego bikeshare system. According to Saksa, "Happy Bike Share Day!" was a popular greeting throughout the day. Saksa also notes the work left to be done: "None of the stations have maps yet – installation of those starts next Tuesday – so to find a docking station you’ll need to go online or use the app made by B-cycle, the manufacturer of all the Indego bikes." Saksa also noted that the system is currently a bit short of the target of 60 stations for opening day, but the system is expected to eventually expand to 180 locations and 1,800 bikes.
Holly Otterbein also provides a rundown of highlights from the system's launch party and press conference. NBC Philadelphia's coverage included the video below.
