"Once it slaked the thirst of nearby breweries and tanneries. These days, the huge old reservoir atop a steep, thickly wooded hill at North and Garfield avenues is more neighborhood landmark than water source. And officially an off-limits one, despite its panoramic views of the skyline. But if the 129-year-old Kilbourn Reservoir is decommissioned soon, as seems likely, the site could be turned into usable green space for the dense, diverse Riverwest neighborhood. The prospect has residents and local activists salivating."
