The latest numbers are in from the Census about how Americans get to work. Bad news for carpool advocates.

Even as more carpool lanes have been built, a smaller percentage of people use them. In this commentary, Reason Director of Transportation Studies Bob Poole explains how tolls could turn these dogs into successful, market-based transportation systems. "A growing body of research supports the case for converting most of America's HOV lanes into value-priced Toll/Bus lanes, operating at a throughput-maximizing60-65 mph design speed."
