The National Trust for Historic Preservation has announced the 2015 edition of its annual list of the most endangered historic locations in the United States.
Marielle Mondon shares the news of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 2015 list of 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.
The National Trust describes this year's list as the "most diverse" ever. Here are the sites included on the list:
- A.G. Gaston Motel, Birmingham
- Carrollton Courthouse, New Orleans
- The Factory, West Hollywood
- Fort Worth Stockyards, Fort Worth
- Little Havana, Miami
- Old U.S. Mint, San Francisco
- South Street Seaport, New York City
- Oak Flat, Superior, Arizona
- The Grand Canyon, Arizona
- Chautauqua Amphitheater, Chautauqua, New York
- East Point Historic Civic Block, East Point, Georgia
In one surprising choice, the National Trust selected the Grand Canyon, echoing the advocacy group American Rivers, which declared the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon as the most endangered river in the United States earlier this year.
