Richmond, Virginia is launching a planning study aimed at maximizing the benefits of a proposed bus rapid transit system connecting the city and its surrounding metropolitan area.
"The Richmond Regional Planning District Commission will create a strategic plan to help the city capitalize on economic development and interconnectivity opportunities stemming from the planned Bus Rapid Transit System," reports Ted Strong.
"While the area served directly and indirectly by the bus rapid transit project includes land in Henrico County and Richmond, the study will produce recommendations only for land use and improvements inside the city limits," adds Strong. Zonign changes are among the planning tools under consideration for the study area.
More details about the bus rapid transit proposal can be found in a January article by Ted Strong, just after the Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) announced design concepts for BRT system's stations. More details are also available at the GRTC website.
