Bikeshare Hawaii is seeking public input on the technology of choice for the eventual roll out of the city's bikeshare system.
"Bikeshare Hawaii, a nonprofit created through public and private interests, has set up a demonstration area at the Honolulu Design Center to get the public’s take on which technology it should use ahead of next year’s expected launch," reports Andrew Pereira.
The article accompanies on-air report about the effort.
"The company is looking at four different systems that are currently used around the globe. Two of the systems, Nextbike and Social Bicycles, utilize technology on the bikes themselves, while two others, Cycloshare and PBSC Urban Solutions, use so-called ‘smart’ docking stations. Bikeshare Hawaii is holding two open houses this month for residents to give each system a try and provide their feedback."
Once the system is built out, Bikeshare Hawaii will feature 200 docking stations and 2,000 bikes.
Hat tip to Jenn Stanley for sharing the news about the public outreach effort.
